Instructions on how to make Custom Baby Clothes with Cricut.

Custom Baby Clothes

Having a baby is one of the most special moments in anyone’s life, and making custom baby clothes can add a personal touch to the experience. With the Cricut cutting machine, creating unique and personalized baby clothes has never been easier. In this article, we’ll explore the step-by-step process of making custom baby clothes with Cricut, from design to final product.

To begin, you will need a Cricut cutting machine. Then, you need to download the Cricut Design Space software onto your computer.

Choosing the Design

The first step in making custom baby clothes is choosing the design. You can search for designs on Eagles-SVG Store by entering keywords in the search bar. If you still haven’t found the design you like, please contact us and we will be happy to create a personalized design for you.

How to make custom baby clothes

Step 1

To begin making the Mama and Mini Shirt Set project, open up Design Space and locate the project. If you have already created the mommy shirt or only want to create the baby clothes, you can hide the mommy by clicking the eye icon. If you prefer to make the mini shirt a single color, you can select all four words and click on the “attach” button.

Step 2

Next, click on the “Make It” button in Design Space, which will display a preview screen. As I am using infusible ink, I should select the mirror button. This will instruct the machine to cut the words in reverse, so that when I apply the ink onto my baby clothes, the words will be oriented correctly. Then, I can select the appropriate material that I’m using, which in this case is infusible ink.

Step 3

After selecting the material and making sure the machine is set to mirror the design, the next step is to place the infusible ink transfer sheet on a standard grip mat. It’s important to make sure your hands are dry and oil-free when handling the transfer sheet. Then, load the mat into the machine and press the load button. Once the machine’s go button starts flashing, press it to start cutting the design. While the machine cuts, turn on the Easy Press and set it to the correct time and temperature so it can warm up.

Step 4

In step 4, after the machine finishes cutting, you need to unload the material and carefully remove the infusible ink from the mat to avoid curling. Then, trim down the unused material and save it for future projects. The next step is to weed the design by removing any excess material that you don’t want in your design, leaving only the desired design.

Step 5

Next, you will want to prepare your baby clothes. Use a lint roller to pick up any particles or lint on the clothes. Then, do a pre-press for 5 seconds. This will help remove any moisture in the fabric and create a smooth surface. Next, insert a piece of cardstock in the bodysuit. Since the infusible ink infuses with the fabric, the cardstock acts as a protective layer so that the ink is only on the front of the bodysuit. Then, place your design where you want it. Once you are happy with your placement, use heat-resistant tape to secure the design to the front.

Step 6

Next, grab a sheet of butcher paper and position it over your design. This will safeguard the Easy Press against any ink stains. Afterward, put the Easy Press on the parchment paper and apply pressure with both hands, as required. Set the timer for 40 seconds and maintain a firm grip on the Easy Press. When the timer goes off, remove the Easy Press slowly and peel away the infusible ink backing.
