How To Upload Svg To Cricut Design Space

What is Cricut Design Space?

Cricut Design Space is a web-based software platform developed by Cricut, a company that produces electronic cutting machines for DIY projects. It allows users to create and edit designs for a wide range of crafting projects, such as scrapbooking, card-making, and home decor.

Cricut Design Space works on PC, Mac, iOS devices, and Android. Note that using a computer will give you the most features as mobile apps may not be compatible with everything your device can do.

Design Space is compatible with a range of Cricut cutting machines, including the Cricut Explore and the Cricut Maker. Once a design is complete, users can send it directly to their Cricut machine to be cut out of a variety of materials, including vinyl, paper, and fabric.

WHAT IS AN SVG FILE?

SVG stands for Scalable Vector Graphics, which is a vector graphics format that can be resized without losing quality. This is the perfect file format to work with Cricut Design Space and other design/cutting software.

We provide SVG files on our website, and you can find thousands of SVG files in our themed collections. Some of the most popular themes in our store are:

  • Christmas SVG
  • Halloween SVG
  • Thanksgiving SVG
  • Football SVG
  • Disney SVG

Note: Most of our products are saved as Zip files, and you will need to unzip them to see the SVG files before you can upload them to Cricut Design Space

HOW TO UPLOAD SVGS TO CRICUT DESIGN SPACE

Cricut Design Space works on multiple devices, so in this article, I will guide you through 2 methods I am currently using to upload SVG to Cricut Design Space. Those are through the Windows 10 computer software and the phone app on iPhone IOS 16.3.1. The Cricut Design Space software is updated to the latest version.

HOW TO UPLOAD SVG FILE IN CRICUT DESIGN SPACE (ON Windows)

For this tutorial, we are using the SVG file “Cougars Football”

Please open the Cricut Design Space software on your computer (you may need to download the software and create an account if this is your first time using it). Click on the “Upload” button to start the process of uploading the SVG file.

A new screen will appear showing your recently uploaded images. Click on the “Upload Image” button to upload a new file.

Click on “Browse” to go to the folder where your SVG file is saved and select the file, or simply drag and drop the file from your computer folder into this window.

Note: In your computer’s folder, your SVG files may appear similar to a web browser icon (for example: I am using Microsoft Edge browser for previewing the Cougars Football SVG file so it is displayed in the folder with a Microsoft Edge icon) – don’t worry, this is normal!

The next screen will provide you with a preview image of the SVG. Give your image a name and add any tags you want (e.g. this file could be tagged “football, cougars, etc.”). Tags will help you filter and organize your files later when you have built up a larger library of uploaded images. Click on the “Upload” button.

Now, your newly uploaded SVG file will appear in the “Recently uploaded images” library. Select the image and click the “Add to canvas” button.

Now your file is in Cricut Design Space and ready to cut!

How to upload SVG Files in the Cricut Design Space App (for IOS Devices)

Open the Cricut Design Space app and click on the “canvas” button in the upper right corner.

Click on the “Upload” icon at the bottom of the menu bar.

Select “Browse Files” and choose the SVG file from where you saved it.

For iPhone or iPad, downloaded files are typically located in the “On my Phone” folder (or iCloud Drive). In this case, my file is saved in the “On My Phone” folder so I will select it.

Select the SVG file you want to use (I chose the SVG Cougars Football file).

A preview of the file will appear in the center of the screen. You need to name the file and click “save”.

Now your file is in Cricut Design Space and ready to cut!
